Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines permitted and prohibited uses of ByteHost services. It supplements our Terms of Service.

2. Prohibited Content

You may not host, store, or distribute:

  • Content violating any applicable law
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
  • Pirated software, music, movies, or copyrighted material
  • Content promoting terrorism, violence, or hate speech
  • Phishing pages, scam websites, or fraudulent content
  • Malware, viruses, trojans, or ransomware
  • Counterfeit goods or services
  • Content infringing trademarks, patents, or trade secrets

3. Prohibited Activities

  • Email Abuse: Spam, email bombing, open mail relays
  • Network Abuse: DDoS, port scanning, IP spoofing, forged headers
  • Server Abuse: Crypto mining, torrent clients, unauthorized proxy/VPN
  • Resource Abuse: Excessive CPU/RAM/bandwidth degrading service for others
  • Security Violations: Unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
  • Illegal Activities: Any illegal activity under Indian or international law

4. Resource Usage Guidelines

On shared infrastructure:

  • CPU should not consistently exceed 25% of a single core
  • Optimize background processes and cron jobs
  • Index and optimize database queries
  • Stay within your plan's disk quota and bandwidth allocation

5. Email Usage

  • No spam or unsolicited commercial email
  • No forged headers or deceptive subject lines
  • Include unsubscribe mechanism in marketing emails
  • Comply with India's IT Act and anti-spam regulations
  • No automated bulk sending without prior approval

6. Security Requirements

  • Keep CMS, plugins, themes, and scripts updated
  • Use strong, unique passwords
  • Do not install nulled/pirated themes or plugins
  • Address security vulnerabilities promptly
  • Report incidents to support@mail.bytehost.org

7. Reseller Responsibilities

Reseller plan holders must ensure sub-users comply with this AUP, communicate the policy, monitor usage, act on violations, and accept liability for client violations.

8. Reporting Violations

Report violations to support@mail.bytehost.org with details including URLs, screenshots, or evidence.

9. Enforcement

ByteHost reserves the right to investigate violations, remove content, suspend/terminate accounts without notice for severe violations, report illegal activities to law enforcement, and cooperate with investigations. Violations may result in immediate suspension without refund.
